Mennonite schools seek to help students, faculty, administrators and board members build nurturing, supportive, redemptive communities. Annual events supported by the Mennonite Schools Council (MSC) seek to bring these participants together to worship, learn and grow together.
Annual music festivals create special opportunities for students from across North America to connect with each other musically and socially. Through the performance of performing sacred choral and instrumental music, students are challenged to grow spiritually and artistically. Music festival schedule and location information
High school choral festival -- since 1962, students have traveled across North America to meet for days of fun, fellowship and worship. Sponsored by Mennonite schools Council, this annual event rotates among most of the MSC member high schools. The festival choir numbers from 450 to 600 participants each year.
Middle school choral festival -- the choral festival for middle school students is held annually in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area.
Instrumental festival -- regional festivals bring instrumental musicians together on an annual basis to enjoy fellowship and performance.
Y-LEAD is a 3 ½ day Christian leadership event for Mennonite youth serving as leaders in their churches or schools, for youth who exhibit leadership potential and for youth pastors and sponsors.
Y-LEAD's purpose is to educate, empower and enable youth to be servant leaders and to resource sponsors as they lead youth. The components of the program include worship, seminars, small group interaction, networking and fellowship. Begun in 1994 as a Christian leadership event for Mennonite youth leaders and their sponsors and pastors, Y-LEAD is held every other year at a Mennonite university or college. Y-LEAD information
(MEC) is a bi-annual professional development conference presented by Mennonite Schools Council and Mennonite Education Agency. Sessions provide development opportunities for PreK-12 faculty, high school principals, middle school principals, elementary school principals and recruitment staff. The conference offers worship, fellowship, networking sessions, inspirational speakers and workshops to equip teachers to live out their calling in Mennonite schools. This conference alternates every other year with the Board and Administrators Conference.
Teachers conference schedule and location information
(ELG) presents professional development programming for PreK through higher education board members and chief administrators. Meetings and staff development activities are also planned for advancement staff, business officers, recruitment staff and public relations staff.
